Sunday Randomness

Dear son,
Just because a pen is left out in the open, undefended, does not mean you have to use it to write on any piece of paper (including photographs) within reach. Thank you for you consideration in the future.

Sincerely,

The management

The scene: We had Chinese food the other day. The restaurant is owned by a Chinese couple down the street. They're really nice. Anyway, we had the neighbor's girl over (she eats here as much as The Boy does sometime) and this was the conversation at one point:

Girl: "So do they speak Chinese?"
Me: "Yes they do. They immigrated."
Girl: "Cool, I wonder what it sounds like?"
The Boy: "Hola!"

Yeah, close enough for now buddy.

==========

Grandma was watching The Boy the other day and stopped over at the house. She accidentally tried the car keys in the door.

"You can't drive my house, Grammy!"

The election's over. Can we ease up on that already?

====================

I'm sneaking this in down here. People are going to start thinking I pay people for this stuff...

This award comes from Wayne over at Wayne John. He's a great guy and has a fantastic series on how to make Blogger work. If you need tips on how to do things in Blogger, this is the place to look. He also happens to be a twitterer extraordinaire.

Prox_award This is a friendship award. It's the Proximidade Award. He tells me that "This blog invests and believes, in 'proximity' [meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' - being close through proxy]. These blogs are all charming and they aim to show the marvels of friendship. Lets give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to eight bloggers who in turn must make the same thing and put this text."

It also sorta makes my blog multi-cultural. You didn't know I could be so classy, huh?

So here are the eight people I award this to for being a part of my community of bloggers. My heartfelt thanks to them all for making blogging so rewarding. (They only let me pick eight people, I'd pick you all if I could. That and listing you all would take me way too much time.)

Mary Anne @ The Stiletto Mom

Jen @ Blissfully Caffeinated

Diane @ Diane's Addled Ramblings

Petra @ The Wise Young Mommy

Tony @ Life with Tony

Deb @ I Need a Martini Mom

Tara @ From Dawn Till Rusk

Mel @ Melanie in Oregon

Kelley @ Magneto Bold Too

Okay people, go relax...it's Sunday.

Oh...FIRST!!!!! It pays to not have a life on a Saturday night...victory is mine...sorta. :)

Now back to read your post....

Hey, thanks!!!! You know I bloggy love ya right back!

Also, be glad he doesn't see the open pen as an invitation to write on the walls...which is what my Miss G always assumed. We have more "art" than I care to think about!!

Rye likes to color on himself... lately he's been into drawing smiley faces on his fingers. It started out with just one, but now he seems to think his finger needed friends so he started drawing smiley faces on all of his fingers and toes.
It's driving me crazy.

Dude, you calling me charming?

Thems fighting words.

I am awesome and don't you forget it.

Sheesh.

(thanks... ;) )

Drat. I don't think I should play the first game. Never gonna make it.

Hey, cool! Thanks. You are one of the bloggers that makes blogging rewarding for me, too. :)

I know what you mean about the pens too. Just be glad it isn't a sharpie. And be glad for crayola markers sometimes. My kid marked up her bedspread not too long ago and it all washed out. Whew.

Chinese food is always yummy.

I think "Ineep" also works at AT&T. I spoke to him last week. He works 3rd shift at Gateway as well.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Man, you're very award-ish this month.... congrats! That one isn't so pink like the last couple..
Ha, your kid is hilarious. Hola! Classic.

The boy is just creative and imaginative give him all the pens he needs. I can say this because my hair is finally growing back now that my youngest has hit 23.

Ineep I love that!

if you go to my mom's house you'll see "artwork" on some of her walls that was done by the grandkids. Once I went in the room and saw what looked like Elmo to me, when I asked her what it was she said that my five year old nephew had drawn Elmo with red crayon on the wall. She doesn't encourage them to draw on the wall, but when they do she tells them how great the artwork is. She stresses that they are not to do that at anyone else's house though and then she'll leave it up for a month or so and then paints over it and it all starts over again. That's where I get my "hippieness" from.

Thanks for the award. It's my first one and I'm all giddy about it like a little school girl minus the pigtails. I have to figure out how to put it in the sidebar - I'm going to work on that right now. Thanks a lot.

Grandma, you can't drive my house! Love it.

Awww... thanks. You keep giving me awards I'd give to you... if you hadn't given them to me first... and if someone else had given them to me... so that I could give them to you... first... you know? Anyway... thanks! xo

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

Man, you gotta stop getting awards cause otherwise you won't have any time to read MY blog and pick up all the awards that I give YOU. My goodness, think about ME, would you?

But you did think about me when you unloaded, I mean, bestowed upon me this fantastic award. So thanks daddy-o.

By the way, that is what I am calling you from now on--daddy-o. It's my own sick little pet name for you. I don't know why I chose it and no I do not have daddy issues. But heinous is just too surfer and Jim is too boring (sorry to your mom), so now you are daddy-o.

MWAH!

I handed Sprite a crayon, piece of paper and told her to color. I came back five minutes later to find her bench table, seat, her shorts, the floor, somehow Blue's collar with crayon markings on it and the piece of paper was pristine with not one mark on it. I was so impressed, I put it on the fridge.

Cheryl: I'm pretty sure all those calls get routed straight to his desk in India.

Casey: I don't know where he gets his material.

Michele: Oh sure, you just want company...

CCG: It's an art form...

Tony: That's pretty cool. It's also easier for grandmas to do than moms ;)

Jannie: I can't wait until he can guest post on my blog.

Petra: Sorry, I'm all selfish like that. Too surfer? I'd better stop saying 'gnarly' then.

Jen: That's fantastic. It's a great story to tell when someone looks at the fridge.

OMG your son sounds just like my daughter with the pen thing. I can't tell you how many pages of my oldest sons homework she has ruined.

Unknown said...

Hey, thanks so much for that.
I'm in pretty cool company there too.

Don't talk to me about kids drawing where they shouldn't. Imagine my daugther's delight when she discovered how magical crayon drawn all over glass patio doors looks!

Captain Dumbass said...

Coincidentally enough, my oldest took a pair of scissors to a D-Day 50th anniversary copy of Newsweek he found this morning. Thanks, son, that magazine was only 19 years older than you.

Your son sounds like an awesome little companion to hang out with. I'd just have to come armed with a load of Mister Clean Magic Erasers.

Cynthia said...

NEVER leave a pen undefended!
Congrats on the award:)

Diane: Missed ya last round. Won't happen again. I like to be first, sorry about that.

Toni: Have you actually witnessed this? "yeah, mom, she scribbled all my homework." hmmm...

Tara: That must look pretty cool on the glass.

Cap'n: Ouch, sorry to hear that. Boys = cute destruction

fadkog: I've been meaning to get some of those things.

NW Thanks. It's too bad he can open drawers. I'm doomed.

Two words: Magic Eraser.

Hey, thanks for the award!!! I feel such a bond of friendship with you suddenly. Gracias, mi amigo.

Unknown said...

Jen: I keep hearing about the wonders of the magic eraser. Da Nada.

My son did the exact same thing when we went to the Chinese restaurant Friday. He overhead some waitresses talking to each other and he said, "Those Chinese ladies are talking Spanish." Hilarious!
