Totally Ignoring the Inauguration...

Okay, maybe not totally ignoring it. I will pause to poke fun at any person who weeps over the inauguration. It's politics people. He's a just a dude we picked for office. Let's wish him well and hope his plan matches his vision.

Anyway, I have a whole bunch of stuff (memes and an award) that I let go for a long time. I'm taking the massive lull in actual work (due to the deification inauguration) to bang this stuff out.

The first is a meme from Petra.

The Rules:

1.go to your documents
2. go to your 6th file.
3.go to your 6th picture.
4. blog about it.
5. tag 6 friends to do the same.

007

This was actually taken by my son. This is a portion of his dinosaur collection. He can name them all and it's always a kick to hear him quiz his mom on the names since she butchers the pronunciation and then she gets corrected by him. I think at this point he was lining them up for a pep talk in an effort to take over the world. Unfortunately for him, his grasp of "inanimate object" is tenuous at best. You're all safe for now...

Tag six people? Nah, not doing it today. Take the meme if you want the blog fodder.

============

I received an award from NoBS at I Meme it. It's the The Premios Dardo Award.

Premios_Dardo

From NoBS's site:

This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in his or her effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day.

Wow, I've never been accused of most of that before, but I would like to sincerely give my thanks for the award. I would also like to advise you to find another ethical advisor if you're currently using me as a guidepost ;)

The rules:
1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

15 Blogs! Holy crap, that's a lot. *Grumble* Fine, here goes. These bloggers are well worth the read if you don't have them on your list and are a better fit than I am to this award if you ask me :)

  1. Diane's Addled Ramblings
  2. The Stiletto Mom
  3. Clark Kent's Lunchbox
  4. Okay, Fine, Dammit
  5. Strange Pilgram
  6. Backpacking Dad
  7. justsomethoughts...
  8. Moonspun Spins
  9. ค קเภςђ ๏Ŧ tђเร คภ๔ ค ๔ครђ ๏Ŧ tђคt

Bah, that's close enough to 15.

Standard disclaimer for the awardees: Follow the rules or don't. This is a no pressure blog. I award people because I appreciate their blogs and I like to acknowledge them. If you don't want to pass it on, that's cool, just enjoy it.

Lastly for the day, a challenge to my nerdiness from Kirsten at The Soccer Mom Files. I have accepted her challenge.

NerdTests.com says I'm a Cool Nerd King. Click here to take the Nerd Test, get nerdy images and jokes, and write on the nerd forum!

Evidently I need more time in the sun. Take the test if you want to. I know there's got to be a bigger nerd than me out there.

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

I am - yippee!

Congrats on the awards dude. And we all knew you were a nerd, so it's no big surprise. But so am I so you are in good company ;)

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

oh yeah, and I love the dinosaur pic. I think your son has some leadership position in his future.

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

And just for the fun of it, I will take # 4 too.

Ok, I'm done.

Sarah's Blogtastic Adventures said...

You sound a little cranky?? Congrats on the award : )

Diane said...

I'm really 2nd, since Petra was a little piggy.

Well, nerd-boy, I cried at the speech, so bite me.

Thanks for that award, though! One of the coolest I've seen! xo

Marinka said...

I don't care that Petra hogged the first 3 spots and that Diane can't count.
Love the dinosaurs. Unless they're coming to life in which case, I don't care for them.

Diane said...

I can count, Marinka... but Sarah was sneaky and slid in there while I was typing. You really have to watch her...

Unknown said...

Petra: He takes some good pictures. I fun to get things from his POV.

Sarah: No, not cranky. Just pressed for time today and way behind on that stuff ;)

Diane: Say, where I come from "Bite me" is an invitation...

Marinka: You're so generous to forgive them their faults ;) He hasn't figured out how to bring them to life yet. Give him time though...

Marinka said...

Oh. I didn't realize that Diane could see that comment. Not that I doubted that she could read, of course.
Diane, you look really nice today.

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

Now I feel bad...Damn me and my guilt issues!

Ron said...

holy cow, thanks! but i'm telling you, a couple shots of tequila and the "ethics" go right out the door. Come to think of it, I actually got a D in Ethics at college.

Anyway, thanks. And I wasn't making a big deal about the inauguration either... looks like the celebs got that all wrapped up. Besides, I was in court today. Funny too, a few people mistook me for an attorney... even more proof of my ethics.

PS - I bow to your Royally Cool Nerdiness having managed to only get King Nerd without the coolness.

Anonymous said...

Are you trying to take over as the Meme king? Cause you are the meme king, that picture is just brilliant!

I just had a quick look on Twitter and on my lord everyone is all 'I have tears in my eyes' and 'I'm so proud to be a part of this' and I'm like you, he's the new bloke, he'd better do good. End of!

PhoenixAwakened said...

Crap. I actually cried a little, and I wasn't even watching the inauguration, I was listening to it on the radio!

Apologies.

Congrats on the award!

WeaselMomma said...

Ouch! 15, ne 9, and I didn't make the list. Of course I'm just messing with you.

Cajoh said...

My wife and I have collected a bunch of stuffed animals over the years and each has a name— now if I only could get them all on the bed and take a picture you all can see how vast our collection has become.

Sandi said...

I am shocked that you said "It just Politics people."

For that you are about to get lectured. I will keep it short, because this is your blog and your opinion, BUT this is HISTORY in the making. We will forever be asked, where were you when the first black man was sworn into office? You will have to say, I was blogging about it being no big deal, and making fun of the people who actually wept.

As the mother of NINE black children, I will tell you, and I am proud to tell you, I wept like a baby and this is SO much more than politics. SO much more!

Casey said...

I get the enthusiasm from the election since I've been so excited for this day. I did not, however, cry and it pissed me off that CNN felt the need to pan in on people crying all day. Oh, and did you see the guy SLEEPING during Obama's speech? WTF dude, you wait all day in that crowd and then pass out? Not cool.

Momma Trish said...

I got "Cool Nerd Queen". Awesomesauce.

Captain Dumbass said...

Dear people who invent memes, seriously, tone down on how many people to hand these things onto.

Anonymous said...

Wow!, a good day all around. New President and new awards. Life is good today...

Unknown said...

Ron: King Nerd rocks too. I still sense ethics...

Tara: Precisely.

Phoenix: No apologies needed. Thanks.

WM: You? Messing with me? I'm shocked ;)

Chris: That would be pretty cool. Perhaps if we could combine forces, we could take over the world.

Sandi: ...and I'll be happy to say that. Yes, history was made. I don't care what color he is, I've always been color blind. My son was adopted from Korea, should I weep when a Korean American is elected president? I just want him to do a good job. To me, he's just a guy that we elected on his merits. I just think it shouldn't be more than politics. He needs to fix this country. We need to fix this country. It won't be done with emotion. It will be done with thought and determination, by all of us. We need to see him as a leader, not as a color.

Casey: I understand the enthusiasm of a new president, especially after the abysmal performance of his predecessor. I know I'm happy we have a new president.

That dude needed some coffee.

Trish: Woo hoo!

Cap'n: Yeah, I'm thinking three per meme would be easier.

Lisa: Indeed it is :)

Ann Harrison said...

You're going to make fun of me for being weepy at the inauguration?

The Stiletto Mom said...

Dude thanks!

One of my friends proposed a drinking game where you had to take a drink every time they showed someone crying. Good thing I was drinking water. :)

ChurchPunkMom said...

dude, you perfectly summed up my feelings on the historical-i-er than thou inaugural events of today... gag me. heh heh.

congrats on the award. ;)

mo.stoneskin said...

I reckon those dinosaurs are yours, and you took the picture, and you know all the names. C'mon, admit it.

beth said...

Finally, a voice not tearing up over the inaugural debacle. Thank you for your sanity.

Unknown said...

I'm saying EXACTLY what Beth just said.

Whenever I've stopped by, I could tell you were cool and all. And whenever people mention you, they get all gooey about how much they love you and how amazing you are.

And with that first paragraph, I'm fully jumping on the Heinous bandwagon. Perfectly blunt, perfectly correct. Love it.

Jenny Grace said...

Those dinosaurs look like they mean business.

Anonymous said...

Feel free to come on over and poke me when you get a chance. (Gave you a shout-out.)
Congrats on the award. Obama got the presidency, you got that. Seems fair. :)

Tony@ That One Paticular Harbor said...

I am with you. I listened to the acceptance speech. Period. I do not need to sit and watch a bunch of black armored suburbans roll around Washington with their blue & reds flashing. I really hope his vision can meet that which this country needs. It is time we take care of our country first for once, and deal with the rest later. As they said in M*A*S*H " Keep you heads down , and your martini glasses up."

SweetPeaSurry said...

The dino pic totally rocked, and honestly ... I can't say I would be disappointed if the world were taken over by toy dinos. (Insert show line 'not da mamma' here)

Thanks for the award, I appreciate the nod.

I took the nerd quiz, I'm currently holding the title "High Nerd" YAY. I still need to get that light saber.

Have a good one!

Sprite's Keeper said...

Wow, how did your son manage to capture the dino migration with a camera? That's a pretty big deal! We have a princess migration through our house all the time, but they announce themselves like the prima donnas they are.

Unknown said...

GP: I'm up for it!

Ann: Just a little. It's all good natured :)

Mary Anne: Aw, you take the fun out of things.

CPM: ah, a kindred spirit. Thanks.

Mo: I do know all the names. I can pass The Boy's quiz.

Beth: Sanity is what will get us to a better place as a nation.

Lee: I suspect they've been drinking when they get all gooey about me. I should get a hot tub for the bandwagon...

Miss Grace: They'll get to CA last, so you've got time.

Robin: Just a little poke.

Tony: I'm behind him 100 percent. I hope he turns out to be the best president ever. I'll go pour that martini.

Unknown said...

Jen: You can hear the tiny rumble as they approach ;)

Anonymous said...

I guess this is a bad time to admit I watched the inauguration while alternately doing 'Yes We Can' calisthenics and crying.

Love the Nerd Test!

Anonymous said...

I cried today, but it was only because Ryerson clogged the toilet with crayons. You would have cried, too.;)

Elle said...

I love that you're so apathetic about the rules of memes/awards/stuff. You're all "meh"...a trait I look for in fine individuals.

creative kerfuffle said...

love the dino pics! too funny. my kids take random pics that i often scratch my head over. i have pics of that purple dinosaur (from a few years ago), pics of tv shows, pics of the computer, their toys, their rooms, etc.
and i'm afraid to take the nerd test, i don't think i'd measure up. and though i love ya to death, really? you got an award for your VALUES??? ; ) he he he was the giver being sarcastic? LOL

The Stiletto Mom said...

I would like to add that I am more hydrated today than I have ever been in my life....I may take the fun out of things but my skin is GLOWING. :)

I adore you, but you knew that....

Congrats .. you had a busy day being awarded and so ..

To Obama : nobody is better than everybody else !

lol

♥ Braja said...

You drinkin' or is your counting that bad? But yeah, please, no more tears: he was only elected to office, not performing miracles on the mount or somethin'....sheesh...

Unknown said...

the picture is great! I was scared they might take over the world!
Oh and thanks for passing on the award! Nice!

Unknown said...

goodfather: I haven't seen that exercise.

Sammanthia: and now he'll expect new crayons too.

Laura: I've been abused with them. Apathy is an art form. I don't work too hard on it though... odd.

CK: I get a lot of TV pics. It's fun to just let them run loose with the camera.

Mary Anne: I know you really don't take the fun out of things. The adoration goes both ways, trust me.

Errant: Just in charge of more ;)

Braja: and what's wrong with an estimate? Precision is for scientists.

Moonspun: We have them safely wrangled into storage. Let's hope they don't find their way out.

Re: the dismissal of Tuesday, I gotta say, "Gutsiest move I ever saw, Mav." You know, considering the rest of the blogosphere's reactions.

I like the "March of the Dinosaurs" pic. Did Morgan Freeman narrate? I hope so.

Otherwise, congrats!

Anonymous said...

right now, I'm working in a clinic that is in the most urban area of the city and of all the days for the tv to not work or the cable to be out - it happens on the day of the inauguration. I don't get all weepy eyed over things, but I did want to see it.

That was a great comment by Sandi and an even better reply. Dude, you are just too smart - you're at least as smart as three of my regular friends put together.

Mama Dawg said...

I love the dinosaur pic!

I teared up yesterday, but not because of the man. But because of the historical event. Living in a place where racism is still rampant, it was nice to see.

Unknown said...

Fr. Muskrat: Heh, I actually watched it, but just didn't want to blog about it. I think there were a few other posts about it. I should give Morgan a call about that.

Tony: I'll fully acknowledge that was a good point by Sandi. Our views are just separate on the issue though... neither one wrong.

Mama Dawg: I'm still amazed at the ignorance I hear from people on an everyday basis. From people I thought knew better. We've come a long way, but there's a long way to go.

I couldn't resist the Nerd test... I am a "Kinda Dorky Nerd Queen" and THAT, my friends, is what she said!

And p.s. Your comments have cracked me up at almost every site I've read to day... but esp. @ Marinka's where you said the girls from the Love Bus were porn industry rejects. *Snicker*

Unknown said...

mommaoa4: I caught the speech, but rejected the hype...

Kat: I love watching BBC news for just that reason.

Amy: I knew you were a queen. It's all the care and thought I put into the each comment.

Dude!! Can't let Little Man see those dinos!!! If he does he will try and jump through the screen at them!!! Oh and I am not ashamed to say it - I cried when I heard Obama speak!!! There - rank on me now!

HEY!

I commented on this post this morning and I'm just now coming back to see what you answered back to me and I can't find it! I'm not here! I've vanished! And I can't remember what I said! I'm pretty sure it was something with fewer exclamation points, and more praise... but it's late, and I honestly can't remember.

So... THANK YOU. That's the important part, right? Thank you. :)

Maggie: Pesky comment-eating blogspot. At least you're back and that's all that matters. You're welcome, babe. Thank you for all the fantatic posts.
